The two faculty for the CISI programmes offered by Capital Markets & Derivatives Training Ltd, Paul Kitching & Alan Burr, have both enjoyed a long association with the CISI and are totally committed to ensuring that candidates have the best opportunity to succeed in the various papers they cover.

As a former Chief Examiner and Panel Member of the Financial Derivatives Diploma paper, Paul has a unique insight and detailed understanding of what is required for students to achieve success in the Financial Derivatives Diploma paper. He has delivered training programmes preparing candidates for the diploma paper since 2005, with a very high success rate with many candidates achieving Distinctions and Merits.

Paul Kitching - Course Director

Paul Kitching

Paul began his career with Ernst & Young, where he became an associate of the Institute of Taxation, and specialised in the taxation of complex financial instruments. He subsequently moved into corporate treasury becoming a member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT).

Following a Quantitative Finance Master’s degree at Imperial College, London, he joined the London International Futures & Options Exchange (now, NYSE.Liffe) in their Education Department, before becoming Head of Interest Rate Product Development at the Exchange.

Alan Burr - Course Director

Alan Burr

Alan Burr, Chartered FCSI, has been the leading tutor in the UK for the Global Operations Management Diploma of the CISI for over 10 years and has assisted hundreds of students in attaining the qualification with excellent results.

Alan is an expert on the subject matter and is also Deputy Chairman of CISI’s Operations Professional Interest Forum. The style and content of the course and Alan’s interactive approach are designed to prepare candidates to succeed in the exam with absolute confidence.

Following 20 successful years with ICCH (now LCH.Clearnet) until 1992 during which time Alan served as Chief Executive in Hong Kong and Executive Director in London, he joined MEFF, the Spanish Financial Futures Exchange, as its International Director. Today he is an independent advisor offering a broad range of client services. Alan is well-known as a consultant and trainer on commodities, securities and derivatives, clearing and settlement, equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, custody, regulation, risk management, operations plus many related subjects.
